Our EuroLab

A group of students at the Liceo "Michelangelo Buonarroti" hold a weekly workshop on European Citizenship as an optional activity at school. Some of these students have been members of the so-called EuroLab for a few years, while others started this year. Our EuroLab is part of a network of European labs from several schools in the North-East of Italy, called PES, i.e. Parliament of European Students: PES is a students' association aiming at learning about EU related themes and issues and presenting young people's opinions to the 'real' European Parliament by meeting MEP's, visiting European institutions, and other activities.
PES members meet more or less once a month in Padova, or keep in touch by e-mail or skype. We meet at school in the afternoon, and we usually debate the topics we have chosen for this year. We also take part in various EU-related contests or events. We have the opportunity of discussing a number of themes, learn a lot about Europe and life in Europe, and make many new friends. During the year we also go on several study trips: last year we went to Berlin to celebrate the fall of the Wall, and we visited Strasbourg, Geneva and (two different groups in May) Brussels.
